I WORK EN PLEIN AIR, OUT IN THE COUNTRYSIDE… Welcome. I am back to painting again after a sabbatical that included a few pieces done for charitable fund raisers. I am continuing to make small, 6" x 8", landscape oils, but not every day. I am also working on larger pieces. Every time I finish a painting, I will place it here on my website. I caught a glimpse of these sheep as I was driving by. A quick turn around and pull over and I was painting. Wind was blowing with rain threatening on the radar screen as I tried to capture the moment. I jumped in the van, thinking I could finish in the driver’s seat as the rain began, but the sheep had other ideas and headed toward the barn. I returned another cloudy day to finish…

I had to come back to the farm. These pigs were just too exciting not to paint, especially against the old red of the barn. However, I received the cold shoulder this time. They were fed earlier and just couldn’t care less about anything else right now. If I had the remains of a fine catered event to munch on, I probably could care less, too!…

“Mermaid Farm Calf”, this is a small painting, 6″x 8″, oil on canvas panel. This painting has SOLD.

This was started early last week. I finally finished it today, partly because the farmer’s boys, ages 5 and 8, wanted to watch. So both days I was able to hold their attention for at least a half hour before they turned into wild mustangs and galloped up and down the path behind me practicing their whinnies. We talked about lights and darks, mixing black instead of tube black, white in sun and white in shadow and, of course, lots of gobbledy gook!!!
